6 Great Springtime Children's Books

Updated: Mar 20

My kids and I love reading books about the different seasons! It's a great way to learn about the changing of the seasons and get excited for the wonderful things that happen during the changing of the seasons. Here are 6 of my favorite Spring time children's books!

Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert is a colorful story about planting a garden! It tells a story of planning, planting, and caring for a flower garden. This book has simple, big, bright colored drawings for the flowers. Each flower is labeled as well, so kids can learn about the different flower names. This is a great introductory story to growing beautiful flowers for Spring!

Frog and Toad Are Friends by Arnold Lobel is a classic! I remember reading about Frog and Toad's adventures when I was in elementary school. This is a great book about two friends that share silly stories and adventures together in the Springtime.

Flower Garden by Eve Bunting is a short and sweet story! A little girl and her father purchase flowers from the grocery store and prepare them in a window box as a birthday gift for the girl's mother. It tells of the journey the flowers had from the grocery store to their apartment and how the beautiful colors brought joy to the people that passed by their window. This books also serves as a lovely reminder that gift giving does not need to be complex or expensive- just thoughtful.

When Spring Comes by Kevin Henkes is certainly a favorite for me! It beautifully illustrates the changes in the weather, plants, and animals when Spring comes. It talks about patience and the beauty of change whether it is fast or slow. I absolutely adore the illustrations in this story as well!

Little Cloud by Eric Carle is another great book for Spring! It tells the story of a small cloud and the different shapes it turns into before it starts to rain! Spring is the time of year for a lot of cloud watching and rain, so this book is perfect for this list! I love the pictures as well, as it offers another style of art for kids to see and appreciate!

What Will Hatch? by Jennifer Ward is an adorable book about eggs! It's cute pictures show different types of animal eggs and what hatches from those types of eggs. This is a great, short read book with big words that are perfect for young readers!

Spring is my favorite time of year and I love sharing all of the special things about the changes Spring brings. These 6 books are wonderful stories to share that have colorful pictures that are engaging and educational! Happy reading!

With Love,

Samantha
